Womenshade Pakistan, under its programme of raising awareness of women's Human rights, produced a short Film “FREEDOM” depicting the plight of women of this part of the world.

“FREEDOM” portrayed as to what this male dominated discriminating behavior actually means to the life of woman and portraying the aspiration and ambitions of individual woman of this society and what actually she goes through in her life.

Short Film is different from feature film, duration of Feature film is above 100 minutes while short film, as its name suggests, is short in duration, its duration is from 10 to 20 minutes and FREEDOM is 12 minute long. Short film is a very effective medium of Entertainment.

In the film what is stressed upon is the negative impact norms and tradition have on the life of individual woman and show how a women uphold these norms and if at all, she at any stage breaks these so-called norms and tradition for better and prosperous life, she gets “FREEDOM” and that freedom usually is in form of freeing spirit from body.

FREEDOM has been shown on couple of occasion to large gatherings, this film was not only selected for International short Film Festival L'Idea di Cleves, Italy, but it was also declared among best selection and was awarded with special certificate and was also telecasted on local Television of Italy which is great achievements for the team of WomenShade Pakistan.

TVA Network has recently picked up this film and shall be telecasted shortly and it is estimated that around 150,000 to 200,000 people shall be sensitized about the women issue; we are also planning to have this short film telecasted on other mainstream Television Channels of Pakistan.

Some horrific forms of violence against women exist in our country and Pakistan has now been placed among top six countries with regards to the prevalence of violence against women, violence usually are in multiple form, that is, rape, forced marriages, Honor Killing, Stove-Burnings, acid attacks are just few of them, among these violence ones that often tend to be rejected as violence in this part of the world are psychological and emotional violence.
